May parents stay with their child for part of the first day of school?
Generally speaking, teachers prefer that parents hug, say goodbye and send their child(ren) on their way. It sends a clear message to your child that they can do this and it makes an easier transition for all.

Is the schedule the same as usual for the first day of school?
Yes, at each level the schedule is the same on the first day as it is throughout the school year. Students will bring their school supplies unless you purchased school supplies through the PTSA's program, School Tool Box.  Those supplies are can be delivered directly to the school if you choose at the time of purchase.

Are snacks allowed?
Yes, your child can bring a healthy snack to school that they will be allowed to eat at some point during mid-morning.

Is there anything special I should know about regarding the first day of school?
On the first day of school, traditionally students will assemble on the soccer field. We will then say the pledge of allegiance, sing the school song, and introduce staff. Eighth graders will then walk our new kindergarten students to their class for their first day and on the last day, the kindergarteners walk the 8th graders out for their final day.

How do we pay for our children's hot lunches?
You can send cash or checks with your child. Your check would be made payable to Coal Creek Canyon K-8 in the amount you want to have placed on their accounts.

If we use School Cafe', how does my child use it at school?
Once you add money onto School Cafe' it then goes directly into your students account just like cash or checks would. The Cafeteria Manager will deduct from the account once the student types in his/her ID#.

How do I get my student's ID # to sign up for School Cafe'?
It is next to your student's name in Jeffco Connect. You can also call the school. After school pictures are taken a photo ID will be sent home with your child and it will also have the child's ID # on it. Students are required to learn their ID# to use in the cafeteria each day they have hot lunch.

How do I know how much money is in my School Cafe' account?
You must log-in to your students' account.

What happens if my child needs to buy lunch and the School Cafe' account is empty?
When your child is running low or out of money, the cafeteria manager will remind your child.  You may also send cash that day if you know ahead of time and have not been able to add money to your School Cafe' account. School Cafe' will also send an email to remind you of their low account if you set it up that way.

Do we need to pre-order hot lunches?
No.  At the end of each month a calendar of the following months' meals will be sent out by School Messenger. This will allow you to see what choices your child has each day.
